Blog Tour: Blossom by Jennifer Martinez

Title: Blossom
Author: Jennifer Martinez
Genre: Young Adult
Release Date: July 5, 2013

Synopsis:
My name is Maia. I'm a princess, a fae princess to be exact. But I don't want to be. See, my whole life, I've always been the center of attention, and I've never understood why. Give me boring, ordinary, and simple any day. It's hard enough trying to work my way through high school. Add running a kingdom to that? Yea, not so much.
Magic, mystery, fairies. I just want to pass driver’s ed.

Review Pending...
Being that Jennifer recommends Blossom for anyone 9 years of age and up, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for my eleven year old daughter to read and review a book for my book blog, since she is curious about the book blogging process. She hasn't completed the book yet. I want her to read on her own free will and enjoyment, and I feel as though putting a time restriction on her is not fair, and would likely take the enjoyment out of reading for her. So, I haven't pressed her or rushed her to finish. She's reading it at her own pace, and once she's finished, I will post her review for all to read. Thanks for your understanding. :)

Author Bio:
One day while slaving away at her monotonous day job, Jennifer Martinez found her true calling. Like a firefly in the night, the pages called to her. Once she caught the bug there was no stopping it. Her fingers flew furiously across the keyboard winding tales of love, mystery and anger. She snapped out of her reverie to find herself still behind the desk but at least she knew who she was… Author Jennifer Martinez.
I like to think of myself as a beautiful conundrum. When I am not writing, I can be found surrounded by my amazing family and 4 dogs or volunteering at a local animal rescue. I love who I am and don’t mind at all when I get strange looks from people. I am a tattoo covered, child and animal lover who looks forward to destroying peoples preconceived notions of what “someone like me” would be interested in. You only live life once… you may as well make it interesting.
I love to get lost in a good book and hope that everyone will get lost in mine.

Review by Teresa (Guest Reviewer) 5 Stars!:

This is the first time I have ever read the Fantasy genre and I have to tell you I love it after I was asked to read this amazing book by Jake Bonsignore.

I fell in love with this book and could not put this down from the very first page and experiencing the turmoil and pure emotions that Breena experienced with having a mother who was a drug addict, along with her pain, anger, and loss. Then the nightmare of Galbrecht Altair's loss of his family was truly a nightmare that no one should ever have to endure. The evil monster that changed their lives forever enveloped me with pure darkness that seemed to fill my entire being as I read about him.

I would recommend this book to anyone who would love fantasy novels. Jake is an amazing up in coming author that writes with some imagination that draws people in and becomes a part of the story in unimaginable ways. I am so looking forward to reading more of Jake's writing as well as more of this series.

Excerpt:

Breena tilted her head upwards and glared at him as best as she could. How had she ever been scared of him? She understood him perfectly. Everything made sense now. She had found strength in her weaknesses. The compassion that had made her vulnerable in her former life was now invaluable.
“You’re wrong, Mulciber. I’m only fourteen years old. I’m not as strong as you…but at least…at least I can admit my faults. That takes true power. I know I can’t…I can’t do everything alone.” She coughed again and whimpered from the dull throbbing in her abdomen. “Life is all about g-give and take. I need others to catch me when I fall. There’s nothing…nothing wrong with that. I need my friends and they…they need me.” She huffed and wiped the sweat from her brows. “There’s more to strength than…than raw might. You just don’t want to accept the…the truth. You’re too scared. That’s…that’s why….” She hacked up spittle and heaved wildly. She could no longer make out anything but blurs of incandescent light. “That’s why I’m stronger than you, Mulciber.”
What? That…that doesn’t…that doesn’t…!
“It’s your turn to prove your strength to me. Break…break free of Izanami and join me. You need me and I…and I need you. Don’t…don’t be a coward.”
No more…no more, human!
Mulciber let out his fiercest shriek yet. One curt glance to his left halted Veku and Lilim in their tracks. Even Leinth stopped her relentless advance.
You…Mulciber hissed. You would call me a…a coward? Me? You are wrong! How…how dare you underestimate me? I am Mulciber, King of the Ifrits!
“Then…then show me the worth of a king’s pride.”

A Review of: 'Life Altering Beautiful' by T.A. Hardenbrook

Review by Debra:

Seven is trying to leave her painful past behind by going half way across the country to college. She is sure she can invent herself where no one knows who she really is.
Seven's roommate is Tammy a beautiful blond determined to party & screw her way thru her freshman year, & take Seven with her.

Enter sex on a stick senior Stone, Tammy's brother. He is a loner interested in keeping his distance from everyone. His screw 'em & push 'em out the door, cage fighting, dirty little secret ass is putting a serious roadblock in Tammy's way!

His only interest is to get & keep her and her roommate Seven away from his frat brothers.

That is until he meets Seven.

They both have some secrets & broken places in their lives that have caused them to build some pretty sturdy walls around their hearts to keep others out. But the attraction & need for the connection that they feel for each other draws them closer.

This is one of the best first books I have read this summer. T.A. Hardenbrook really has a gift for drawing you into the emotions & minds of the characters. She has the ability to make them your neighbors, friends, people you know! She lures you into their world & you cry, laugh, rage, and sigh right along with Seven & Stone. I can't wait to read more from her. She has a true gift with words.

I give this a solid 4 stars!

Blog Tour, Giveaway, Excerpt: More than a Maid by Reeni Austin

Blurb:
Ramon Barboza loves two things: his ranch and his freedom. An occasional drunken fling is all he needs to satisfy his desire for a woman.
Marcy Cameron never wanted to be a live-in maid, but her cleaning business is falling apart. When her friend offers her an overpaid position as housekeeper for a month, it's an offer she can't refuse. Marcy packs her bags and heads to Texas. But the house comes with a grumpy, secretive, and obstinate occupant: Ramon, who thinks his life and his house are fine just the way they are. The sassy, headstrong Marcy quickly butts heads with the master of the house. But is the tension between them merely anger, or something more?
As Cara and Victor plan their wedding at the ranch, Henry's secrets cast a shadow. Ramon has his suspicions, but refuses to discuss them with anyone.
What made Henry run off? Why is he living off the grid? Why has he still not returned? Victor and Armando are determined to uncover the truth, but will the answers be more than they bargained for?

In the conclusion of the Barboza Brothers trilogy, all of these questions will be answered.

Excerpt:
With her eyes still shut, she heard him stand up in front of her. A subtle, masculine fragrance filled her nostrils. He let go of her arm and she felt his palm cup her cheek. His other hand went to the small of her back.
Ramon breathed in her ear before whispering, “You’re all I’ve been able to think about since last night.”
“I am?” Marcy asked in a breath, biting her lip and nearly losing her balance.
He moaned, nuzzling her cheek. Then he whispered, “You didn’t think you could go around flauntin’ all this in front of me without me doin’ somethin’ about it, did you?”
Marcy smiled, memorizing his words. Loving the way his accent changed to a heavier drawl when he whispered in her ear.
Ramon’s hand in the small of her back slid further down, his fingertips lightly grazing her butt through her thin cotton shorts. His other hand moved from her cheek to her hair as the volume of his breathing increased.
She let out a quiet moan. Her body needed more, and he probably knew it. Her intuition told her he was trying to get her worked up enough to make her beg.
And if not for her rebellious nature, she probably would have.
Instead, Marcy simply put her arms around his waist.
Ramon drew closer, gently kissing her cheek, tightening his embrace.
Pressing his erection against her stomach.
Marcy almost laughed out of sheer relief. She convinced herself earlier that his lack of arousal meant he was lying. But there was no mistaking his attraction now.
She slid her hands under his T-shirt, her fingers digging against his back. Pulling him closer, she let her stomach slowly rub against his hard member, determined to beat him at this game.

Ramon chuckled, then nibbled her earlobe, giving it a soft bite before he let it go. Both of his hands were now cupping her ass. In a deep whisper, he said, “You gonna take those clothes off for me now?”

A Review of: No Second Chances by R.J. Greer

Review by Debra (guest reviewer):

Not real sure how to review this book. When I started it I thought it was going to be just another book about bdsm with no plot or story behind it. Boy was I wrong!! The farther I got into the book the more it hooked me.
Now I am breathlessly waiting for the next book.

Aaden MacGregor is a self-proclaimed tech geek with an active imagination. He gets a look at his fantasy wet dream while waiting for an elevator when he goes to apply for a job.

When he gets the chance to whisper his random thoughts in her ear he "seizes the day", and actually does it. His dream women turns out to be a V.P. in the company he is trying to get a job with, and she is intrigued by this man who has dared to be so forward with her. She makes sure he is hired and things move along at break-neck speed from there.

Destiny opens business and career doors for Aaden that would have taken him a life time to open on his.

Aaden opens Destiny's closed heart and becomes her safe place. But they still have secrets that could destroy the fragile relationship they are building, and may even bring their careers down too.

It starts out with some kinky fuckery, but the further into the book you go the more you see how they break down emotional and physical barriers to find something truly amazing and special between two broken people. Hopefully they can protect it from the storm that is about to descend on their heads.

It was a breath of fresh air to read an erotic love story written by a man. I truly enjoyed No Second Chances by R.J.Greer. I give it 3 stars and can't wait for the sequel.

Blog Tour: Fractured Souls by Jessica Sorensen

Fractured Souls (Shattered Promises, #2)
By Jessica Sorensen
Available Now, Purchase Links Below!

Blurb (from Goodreads)
Gemma thought she had said her good-byes and had felt every possible emotion she could before her
soul was detached again. Deep down inside, she hoped she’d never wake up from it because, in her
eyes, life without emotion and memories isn’t worth living.

But she does wake up and discovers she can still feel and remember everything she experienced over
the last few months. Alex is also telling her that everything’s okay, that he didn’t betray her, and that
what she thought happened really didn’t.

Gemma isn’t sure if she can trust Alex, so she tries to keep her distance from him, even though the
electric connection and her desire make it nearly impossible. The only person she can trust is Laylen, but
even that becomes complicated when the lines of their friendship begin to blur.

While Gemma struggles with her emotions and relationships, she searches for her mother, entering a
dangerous world of secrets, seduction, and evil. The further she digs into her mother’s secrets and past,
the more she wonders what waits for her at the end of her search and if maybe some things are better
left in the dark.

My Thoughts:
I am a huge fan of Jessica's writing; she's in my top 5 Favorite author's. I am currently reading Fractured Souls, and loving it. I was hoping to have it completed by the blog tour date, but that wasn't possible. No worries though, I will post my review as soon as I finish the book. Jessica's creative writing style always captivates and intrigues me.

I loved the original Fallen Star Series, but I am so glad that Jessica decided to rewrite, revamped, spice them up a bit, and give us (her readers) and adult version. The storyline is for the most part familiar to me because I have read the original Fallen Star series, but they are completely different books. Their not just the same books with a few sex scenes thrown in...and let me tell you there are some seriously hot scenes in this book...eek!

I've went from reading Ember by Jessica Sorensen straight into reading Fractured Souls, and I think I could continue to read book after book of her writing and never get bored of it. Each book is uniquely its own, there is no redundancy. She's truly an amazingly talented writer. Thank you for visiting Kindred Souls Book Blog. Come back again soon for my review of Fractured Souls.
