About Us

~Karese~

32 year old, mother of two, wife, graduate student, friend, and book enthusiast. With the busy pace of life it is difficult to find a free moment, but in those rare moments each day, you'll find me reading. For me, reading is a peaceful escape, a place of serenity. I guess in many ways it's my therapy. Reading is a crucial part of my sanity!

When I read, I'm hoping for the book to move me. I want to be able to feel it in my soul, to develop a connection with the characters, and with the story. I'm hoping for a love story that has intensity, an undeniable need for each other...mind, body, and soul. If a book gives me those things, I'm a happy reader =)

I love reading on my kindle; it makes reading easier, especially at night. I still have this want to purchase the hard copy because I am connected to these stories and I want that tangible object with a pretty cover to hold in my hands and display on my bookshelf. It absolutely thrills me when I am able to get a signed copy of my favorite books!

~Dusty~

30 year old, mother to one daughter and fur baby, wife, graduate, workaholic, friend, and book addict. With a family, holding down a full-time and part-time job, and as time allows being a Consultant with a direct selling business, there isn't much time left for just "me". Although in the last year, I have finally made it a must to have "me" time.  This is when I read, my "healthy escape from reality".

Just like Karese, this has became my "therapy".....it's my source of energy to push through when I feel completely depleted by life.  Reading is a way for me to release and let go of my day to day stresses and find a connection; either through sharing a book, connecting with an author, or with the characters and story itself.

Karese and I began sharing our love of reading with each other last spring, and I believe it has grown into our lil obsession that we share with many :  )  We first met as neighbors over 6 years ago, our daughters are the same age and hit it off as bff 's right away.  Both our households have moved a few times since then, but we have managed to still stay close and get together as we can.  In our own way, we are "Kindred Souls".

  1. I share the feelings of a lot of authors and reviewers about the plagiarism of ‘Amazingly Broken’. It should be called Amazingly Copied. I got a whiff of the fakery and scamming that’s possible over the internet LAST WINTER, but this latest scandal that hit in the last few days really pisses me off.
What upsets me is that I’ve been dealing with bloggers and reviewers like yourself since January. You guys do this for the love of books, for the love of good stories, and for the love of good writing.
Your good faith and honest reviews have been used against you by a rip off artist.
    Here’s why I’m contacting you:
I’m just putting the finishing touches on a romantic comedy about internet scams that I started in February. It’s called The Sock Puppet. It addresses exactly these issues that have come up in the last few days, yeah. But it’s funny as hell.
I was planning on releasing it in November, but from what I’ve seen going on all over the internet, I’m crashing production to get it out within two weeks.
Here is the short description of Sock Puppet
Artie Dunleavy hates having to get his girly on, but it’s the surefire way to get in touch with his feminine side.
Sometimes, after a tough day at work patrolling the streets of The Bronx for the NYPD, he has to take that extra step. With all the crap he sees on the job, writing Happy Ever After romantic stories are a good way to balance it. Maybe he can sell his stuff?
He creates an author persona, Desiree Robb, self publishes his book, ‘Angel Mourning’ and waits to see what happens.
And it doesn’t take long for a lot to happen…
A wannabe gangster, who calls himself ‘Carmine’ has come up with a sweet scam to make a fortune off self published books. So what if he still lives with his parents? He puts together a crew of incompetents, plagiarizes the heck out of a romance novel, hires a computer expert and gets a list of credit card accounts from the FOR REAL Russian Mafia.
He’s going to sell a ton of his book, ‘Desire Robbed’ by Angel Morning. But one small error, a transposition, wrecks his caper.
Things go unbelievably well for Artie, and really, really bad for Carmine.
Artie’s sales go through the roof; to the point that ‘Desiree’ is courted by a big seven publishing company. Except Desiree’s a guy. Uh oh. Artie needs a sock puppet. He talks his mechanic, Marie, into helping him out. Couple of problems there- she don’t like cops; her ex is a cop! But for a piece of the action, sure.

A whirlwind week in New York City ensues. ‘Desiree Robb’ aka Marie, who’s Sock Puppeting for Artie is going on the most popular daytime talk show as the latest DISCOVERY.
She needs a lot of help. Think of American Idol for books meets My Fair Lady.
Carmine, his crew and the for real mobsters want “their money they stole”. Now!
Sock Puppet- Don’t judge a book by its author.
Coming out by July 14th, 'cuz' that’s my birthday.
    Thanks for your time.
    Regards,
    Desmond X. Torres
