Review & Signed Paperback Giveaway: To Seduce an Earl & To Capture a Rake by Lori Brighton

My Thoughts on 'To Seduce an Earl':
(4 Thoroughly Enjoyable Stars!)

This is the first true Historical Romance that I have read. I have read other books with historical scenes, such as: paranormal romances with vampires that would refer back to their life hundreds of years earlier, but this is my first read that is set in an era in history.

I love to read romance stories, simple as that. I am open to stepping outside my norm and reading new genres. By doing so, I am exposed to countless opportunities to read intriguing and creative stories of true undying love.

At the age of 12 or 13 Alex leaves everything he's ever known without so much as a goodbye to his family or friends. He is coaxed by a heartless temptress to enter a life that would end up holding him prisoner for many souls crushing years to come.

Grace is quickly approaching the status of 'old maid' at the age of twenty-four she has yet to marry. Life has kept her from being able to focus on herself. With a no good step-brother who gambles away what little money their family has left after the death of her step-father, a teenage sister to look after, and a mother who is on her death bed, Grace is far too busy caring for everyone else to focus on her life's desires.

Ill fated circumstances place Grace in Alex's bedchambers...and the rest is history ;)

I thoroughly enjoyed Alex & Grace's story. Both characters have their weaknesses, but they seem to fill in the cracks in each other's foundation creating undeniable strength. Sometimes no matter how much you try to resist something or someone, you fail. I believe that is because you cannot ignore your hearts desires. They have so much working against them, but in the end the bond of truelove is unbreakable. Their trials and tribulations in life are what ultimately brings them together and keeps them together.

I most certainly recommend this historical romaces to all.

I am very much looking forward to reading book 2 in The Seductions Series, To Capture a Rake...

Please note that 'To Capture a Rake' is an ARC copy, not a final copy, so there may be typos and the cover does not look like the final book cover, but the story is the same.

Review: Vain by Fisher Amelie

My 5 Star Review
of Vain
By Fisher Amelie
The Cover of Vain with the Beautiful Sophie Price
Vain sat on my TBR list for a while before I read it. I kept seeing great things being said about this book, but my TBR list is a mile long as I guess most avid readers' are and I just hadn't go to it yet. Fisher Amelie ran a sale on Vain and I decided to snatch it up then and finally read it. Let me just say that I am so glad I didn't put it off any longer.

In the beginning of this book Sophie Price was nothing more than a rich bitch with a horrendous take on life. Although, she knew her behavior was horrid, she continued to life that way. She was a gorgeous girl on the exterior, but on the interior she was hurt and angry, which was a direct reflection of her ugly attitude.

It doesn't take long for her delinquent behavior to catch up with her and ultimately lead to an experience that changes her forever. Sophie was the epitome of selfish, self-centered, and self-righteousness. The type of person in real life that makes me nauseous and I steer clear of at all costs.

In many ways I can't hold it against her too much because she had self-concerned parents who did not 'parent' her. She learned her behavior from the example they set for her. Mix in the angry emotions she felt towards her parents for 'not' loving her, for 'not' being there for her, and paying her very 'little' attention throughout her life... and the results were, Sophie Price: this beautifully mess of a mixed up girl who had low self-worth, displayed promiscuous behaviors, treated people horribly, and experimented with drugs and alcohol.

When she is sent to another country to serve time for her wrong doings she has no idea what she is in for.

For me this is where the book really began. I don't want to give too much information away because I believe it is important not to take away from your reading experience by exposing you to too much information in my review.

The story is touching, heart-warming, and puts things/life into perspective.

I'll give away just a tad of my thoughts about her time in the other country...

I love how Sophie is taken by Mandisa and claims her much like a mother claims their children. That alone made me really love the person Sophie was becoming.

Another favorite part of the story I loved: is how Ian often referred to Sophie by her full: Sophie Price. In the epilogue that changes, which made my heart smile.

Okay, okay, that's enough...

This truly is a beautiful story. I recommend it to ALL!

Spotlight: Paint Me Beautiful by CM Stunich

Title: Paint Me Beautiful
Author: CM Stunich
Genre: NA Contemporary
Page Length: 100K words

Synopsis:
“I'm dying to be beautiful.”

My story isn't unique. You've heard it before. I'm just a girl who doesn't eat as much as she should. See, I have goals, big ones, and nobody is going to stop me, not even a boy named Emmett. He has good intentions and he's hot as hell, but he doesn't understand what it's like to want something so bad that you'll do anything for it. I'm going to become a model, even if it kills me. Dream big or go home, that's what they always say, right?

Excerpt 1
I set my phone down and get dressed in yet another set of workout clothes. It's surprising how
many sets I have, most of them brand new since I've never really been much of a fitness guru. I
imagine that my lack of exercise is part of the equation that ended up leaving me a fat mess, but I try to
think past that, try to make up for it by killing myself with a new workout routine. I only make it ten
minutes before I have to stop and take a break. In my mind, I have to take a break because I'm
overweight, too heavy to force myself through it. In reality, I'm starving to death. Literally. I'm dying
to be beautiful, and I don't even know it. Emmett does though. He does, and he wants to help me, but
even he doesn't quite realize that the only way he can help me is if I want to help myself first.
I start up the routine again and can only make it through a single set of crunches before I'm
rolling onto my side, wheezing and clutching my aching tummy. It causes me to double over and curl
into a fetal position, but only because my muscles are sore and not because of food. I'm not hungry, not
anymore. It's sort of amazing that I've broken my body's bad habit in just a few days. I tell it when I
eat and not the other way around. I like that.
Ten minutes and a whole water bottle later, I get up and try again. This time, I manage to make
it to the end of the video and feel so damn proud that I reward myself by lying down on my bed to rest
my eyes. When I open them, the sky is dark again and I'm shivering with cold.

Excerpt 2
“I think your sister only hired me to get at you,” Emmett whispers. I think he senses my
emotions and is trying to distract me, but it doesn't work. I've just spotted Le-freaking-anne and Jenn
in the crowd. Fate? Hardly. Coincidence. Doubtful. I'm guessing Marlena called them. That would
be just like her. Come on guys. Claire, needs all the help she can get. She's a poor, starving fat girl
with bones for days and blotchy skin and these weird ass blue freaking fingernails. I probably
confiscated her friend's phone at work to find out where they were going. Please go stalk her, in the
name of love, of course. I scowl at the pretend Marlena and wish that she would just go and get
married, have kids or something. I'm tired of her treating me like I'm her offspring. “Claire?” Emmett
touches my chin, turns me to face him. When I look into his eyes, I see that they're focused on my
friends. He recognizes them. “Are you okay with this?”
“Did you tell them?” I ask, fairly certain that he didn't but wanting to know, just in case.
“I told your sister where we were going,” he says and then, “I'm sorry. Want to go to the tree
house after?”
“I want to live in the tree house,” I admit to him as he swings his eyes back to mine. The air in
the car goes from warm to hot and then we're just on each other like we've been glamoured, poisoned
by some ancient faerie with wicked intentions, who people used to pray to, beg for better sex lives, for
hotter lovers, for longer orgasms. Emmett and I bump teeth with a gentle clack and then soften our
frenzy when we taste a bit of blood, gently nipping at one another's lower lips, swirling tongues,
tasting, eating, breathing one another.
“I'll draw you a map,” he whispers. “It's yours.”

Excerpt 3
“Emmett,” I moan as he gives into temptation and seeks my lips again. We both keep our eyes
open and half-lidded, watching, looking, absorbing. Ah, Emmett Sinclair with the ardent eyes and the
red-hot lips, roasting, scalding, scorching me, leaving a trail of fire in his wake. I am lost to him in that
dark bedroom, buried beneath his passion and his conviction that he will save me, whatever the cost.
I'm willing to die for my dreams. Well, so is he. Emmett Sinclair wants to rescue me from myself, and
he'll stop at nothing to make sure that he does.
I touch his wet hair; he touches mine. We exchange wordless words with nipping lips and touch
and feel and caress. Emmett sees places on me that nobody else gets to see, touches parts of me that I
find putrid, and he looks happy about it, thrilled. His hard body doesn't lie as it slips in and out of me,
and the expression on his face tells me that whatever it is that I see wrong in myself, he doesn't see it.
I am broken in my own eyes.
I am sick in my family's.
I am not good enough in the fashion world's.
In Emmett's, I am whole.
I kiss him again and this time, I don't let him go until I fall into pleasure; I don't even let him
breathe. I keep my arm wrapped around his neck and I absorb all of the good in him, pray that it rubs
off on me, that once this fast is over, once I've got this contract, that I'll be happy, relaxed, pleased to
just be, to just exist.
I come in Emmett's arms and then lie quiet and panting while he finds his, just enjoying the
feeling of him inside of me. When he finally collapses next to me, he pulls me against him and cradles
my head under his chin. Neither of us speaks for a long, long while.

**This book is sitting on my TBR List. I will post a review once I've read it.

Blog Tour, Review & Spotlight: Kiss Me & Date Me by Jillian Dodd

My Review
Kiss Me
The Keatyn Chronicles: Book 2
By: Jillian Dodd

My Honest Thoughts:
Kiss me is book two in the Keatyn Chronicles. It picks up right where we left on in Stalk Me (book 1). I enjoyed reading Kiss Me more than I did Stalk Me. There are aspects of The Keatyn Chronicles that I really enjoy and others' I'm not a fan of.
For me, Kiss Me's story-line seemed more realistic than Stalk Me. I say that because there were parts of Stalk Me that I felt were too far fetched, mainly the fact that her parents allowed her to spend the entire summer in Europe with her boyfriend. I felt they gave their 16 year old daughter far too much freedom. Regardless of how much money you have that's horrible parenting (in my opinion).
In Kiss Me, Keatyn is starting over in life, not because she wants to, but because she has to. She adjusts very quickly to her new life, new private school, new friends, and new boyfriend(s). I adore Keatyn, but she often annoys me. She's smart, charismatic, and has a like-able personality. She's the girl all the girls love to hate and all the boys want to date. She just drives me nuts with the back and forth between so many different guys, when she prefaces her statements with  the word 'like' and when she tells us every single detail about the outfit she is wearing that day.
Don't get me wrong, Jillian Dodd did a great job creating a detailed story-line and well developed characters'.
Personally, I just struggle with connecting to the life styles of many of those characters. I think my indifference boils down to the fact that I'm just not a fan of promoting promiscuous behavior and/ or alcohol and drug use among teenagers. If these characters were 18 and older, it wouldn't have bothered me nears as much.
In Kiss Me Keatyn finds herself attracted to two guys in-particular: 'Gorgeous' aka Dawson and "The God of all Hotties' aka Aiden. I actually really liked both of these guys. They seem to respect Keatyn and truly want to be with her for reasons beyond sex. I have to say though that I am definitely pulling for Aiden. There is definitely something between those two that goes far beyond superficial attraction.
I will be reading book 3 because I do want know where Keatyn's story goes. I am hopeful that with continued life experience, we will see her character continue to mature.
(I give Kiss Me 3.5 Stars)

Book Blast: Ember by Jessica Sorensen

Ember Death Collectors
By: Jessica Sorensen
Book Blast
Release Day!
This Cover is Gorgeous!
Synopsis:
What if you knew when someone was going to die?

For seventeen-year-old Ember, life is death. With a simple touch, she knows when someone will die. It’s her curse and the reason she secludes herself from the world. The only person who knows her secret is her best friend Raven.

Then she meets Asher Morgan. He’s gorgeous, mysterious, and is the only person Ember can't sense death from. So when he pushes into her life, she doesn’t mind.

But when unexplained deaths start to haunt her town, Ember starts questioning why she can’t sense Asher's death and what he may be hiding.

Excerpt:
I lean against the wall, let my head fall back, and shut my eyes. “Breathe, Ember, breathe. You can’t stop death—it’s endless.”
“God, it’s like mating season in here,” a deep male voice enfolds around me and sends vibrations quivering through my body.
I shudder and misstep, tripping over my feet, and stepping on the toe of his shoes. Actually, boots; black ones with little silver skulls on the buckles. I like his boots. My eyes progressively travel upward as I take him in; dark jeans, a plaid shirt over a black T-shirt and a skull necklace hooks around his neck. There’s a sequence of leather bands on his wrists and a metal loop ornaments his eyebrow. His inky black hair dangles in his slate eyes and hangs shaggily over his ears.
His intense gaze tantalizes my skin as he takes me in. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you.”
I shiver again at the sound of his sultry voice as it spills over my skin. “Sorry about your shoes.” I retreat backward, putting space between us. The last thing I want is to find out when this gorgeous guy dies. “Crowded rooms just make me a little uneasy.”
He laughs softly as he tosses his cup into the trash. “I know what you mean. All this,” he motions at the people grinding against one another, “is an excuse for them to dry hump each other in public.”
I almost smile at the similarity of our thoughts. “That’s a pretty good observation.”
He presses his lips together and then with a hesitant look, he leans over my shoulder, putting his lips next to my ear. I stiffen, worried he’ll touch me and this magical moment will end, but he’s careful, leaving a sliver of space between his lips and my ear.

Review, Excerpts, Giveaway & More: The Girl in 6E by Alessandra Torre

The Girl in 6E
By Alessandra Torre
Review & Giveaway

Warning: This book contains explicit sexual references, and should not be read by anyone under the age of 18.
My Thoughts:
Oh my goodness, The Girl in 6E, she was such a mystery to me. I wasn't sure how or even if I was going to be able to connect with her. She was peculiar, vague at times, and had such corrupted thoughts/fantasies. I found her personality to be very dark, dry, and flat. Her thoughts were disturbing and contorted to say the least.
But...as the story continued little by little I began to fit the warped puzzle pieces of DeAnna together. By the end of the story I understood the darkness, the isolation, the thoughts, and behavior. I completely fell in love the chick. She's quite the opposite of what she thinks she is. She's damaged, but she's good at her core.
She did horrific things, but those were done for reasons of defense, survival and protection.
There are unfortunate situations that can arise in one's life that are beyond their control. In those situations you have two options: do something about it or don't.
Much to her chagrin, I think DeAnna is a strong, stand up chick who chose to do something when faced with those type of unfortunate situations.  But, because she has a conscience and a good heart buried under the dark psyche, she suffered immensely due the severe psychological repercussions of those actions.
This book has such a very unique story-line, kudos to Alessandra for creating such an intriguing, twisted story and successfully tying all loss ends together to form this coherent thrilling story.
This is the first book that I have read, where I thought, Wow!, this book needs to be a movie.
I give it 5 Stars!
Author Bio:

Alessandra Torre is an exciting new author who astonished the publishing world with the success of her first novel, Blindfolded Innocence. Initially self-published, the intriguing romance and erotica title quickly rose to the top of the charts on Kindle and Amazon and attracted the interest of major publishing houses. Currently available on Kindle, iBookstore and Nook, Blindfolded Innocence will be available in print in 30 different countries through Harlequin Publishing in June 2013.
Torre’s captivating story about a young intern’s sexual awakening has won praise and rave reviews from numerous critics, bloggers and book reviewers, including the acclaimed Dr. Laura Berman. In her recent article “35 to Read After 50 in Everyday Health, Dr. Berman recommended Blindfolded as a must-read for book enthusiasts searching for a new fix after Fifty Shades of Grey. The book has also received high marks from readers on Goodreads and other literary web sites where fans frequently remark they can’t wait for a Blindfolded sequel!
Momentarily stunned by the book’s rapid success and loyal following, Torre is now releasing ‘The Girl in 6E’, and erotic thriller, as well as working on a sequel to Blindfolded. From her home near the tranquil warm waters of the Emerald Coast in Florida, she devotes several hours each day to various writing projects and interacting with her fans on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Happily married to her “best friend” and with one son, she loves watching SEC football games, horseback riding, reading and watching movies.
Excerpt 1:
Undressing is an everyday occurrence.  Most women do it mindlessly, automatic motions that accomplish an end result.  But, if done correctly, stripping can be the ultimate foreplay, a sexual seduction that can wipe clear any rational thoughts and leave a man totally and utterly at your mercy.  I have mastered the art.

I kneel on the bed and trail my fingers over my skin.  Light, teasing caresses designed to heighten my senses and stimulate my body.  I exhale slow, trembling breaths as my hands travel near sensitive areas, the dip in my neckline, the lace over my breasts.  I keep my eyes down, subservient to him, and wait for the command.  One always comes.

“Take off your top.  Slowly.”  The voice was foreign, English words dipped in culture and dialect.  I comply, lifting my eyes and biting my bottom lip gently, my tongue quickly darting out, and hear his gasp in response.  I run my hands down my neck, grazing the top of my collarbone and dipping under the silk of my negligee. I slide down one strap, then two, the silk bunching over my breasts, the fabric clinging to my nipples.  Then I rise to my knees, crossing my arms, sliding the fabric higher, letting it reveal inch by slow inch of skin until it unveils the curve of breasts, dip of throat, and the pout of pink lips.

“Good.” He groaned.  “Very good.  I like you, Jessica.”

Jessica. Not my real name.  He thought he knew me.  They all thought they knew me.  After all, they’ve seen my Facebook page, seen the Photoshopped photos that construct my manufactured life.  They believe what they see, because they want to believe.  Like I want to believe.

I turn to the wall and stand, dragging my expensive thong down over my toned hips, bending over and exposing my most private area to his hungry eyes.  The embroidered lace slides the rest of the way down my legs and drops around my ankles, snagging on the Italian stilettos that encase perfectly pedicured feet.  I am naked now, and slide down to lay on my side in front of him, propped up on one elbow, his eyes hungrily feasting on my body.  The lights, bright and hot, illuminate my bare skin, causing it to glow.  He speaks, the arousal present in his voice, in the slight thickening of his accent.

“Touch yourself.  Just your fingers.  I want to see you come.”

He wants my fingers, a seductive performance of gasps, moans, and slick foreplay.  Eventually, fingers won’t be enough.  The next visit he’ll want more, something bigger, deeper - my moans to be louder, my orgasm stronger.  There will be no secrets anymore, no boundaries, no requests he won’t be comfortable giving.  At this moment, I am his, to do with as he pleased.  And right now, he wants fingers.

Excerpt 2:
“Something happened, and I need advice.” I grip the phone tightly and wait for the psychiatrist’s response.

“Another episode?”

“No - nothing about that.  It’s Jeremy…you know the guy who-”

“You’ve had one human interaction in three years, I know who you’re talking about.  What happened?”

“He left me a note.  Outside.  With my package.”  I read him the note, trying not to add inflections that probably don’t exist.  When I finish there is silence, silence that stretches out so long that I find myself fidgeting.

“What do you want from me, DeAnna?”

“I want you to tell me what to do!  I don’t know how to handle this shit.”

“What do you want to do?”

“I - I don’t know what I want.  I just need you to tell me what to do.”

“What was it like when you were with him?”

I stand, pacing the expanse between my two bedrooms.  Crossing the thresholds feels like moving between my two selves – sex kitten to lonely woman.  JessReilly19 to scheming murderess.  I pushed against his hard chest and then he was there, in my mouth, his tongue pressed gently against mine, and my own traitorous mouth responded, my heart rate increased, my hands moved of their own accord, to his strong arms. Shoving the blade of the box cutters deep into his skin, the blood bursting from the movement, spraying gently upon my hand.  I tasted him, greedy for everything, my hands roamed everywhere, grabbed at his shirt, hastily undoing the buttons.  If he came back, if he came inside, I could be more prepared, could succeed in my quest for death.

“Deanna?”

I halt, trying to focus.  “I’m sorry - what was the question?”

“What was it like when you were with him?  How did you feel?”

“I wanted him.”  On me, in me, dead beneath me.

“In what way?”  Derek’s voice is so sensual, so soothing, so male.  I make a decision, moving to my pink bed, and lay back on the sheets that smell of lube and latex.
